Neutrino water detector NEVOD is the first in the world Cherenkov water detector on the Earth's surface intended for investigations of all basic components of cosmic rays.

QSM spatial lattice

The registering system of the detector is deployed in the water reservoir with inner dimensions of 9x9x26 m3 and represents a spatial lattice, in the knots of which the quasi-spherical modules (QSM) recording Cherenkov radiation from any direction practically with equal efficiency are located. Structurally, the lattice is formed by the vertical strings, consisting of 3 or 4 modules. The dimensions of water reservoir make it possible to arrange up to 67 strings with 241 QSM.

NEVOD is included into the list of the unique scientific installations of the national significance (reg. ¹ 01-63).
